Creative Statement:
Art is communication; whether it is being used to share the glories of the natural world or the follies of mankind. It can lift us out of ourselves and help us to open our eyes to the larger world around us.
Bio
Kate is a harpist, initially pursuing a Harp Performance degree at Luther College but ultimately graduating from UW-Stout with her BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in painting. She works with a broad range of media including oils, watercolor, colored pencil, ink, collage, fiber, and anything else that looks fun. Also a multi-instrumentalist, Kate still spends a good deal of time in musical ensembles or working on solos. She started a small studio practice called Tumtum Tree Studios as a means to encompass both visual art and music.
